Long Bennington Local History Society
In the early 1990’s a small dedicated group of local historians carried out research into some of the history of Long Bennington under the auspices of the U3A. Their findings were eventually published in a small booklet. When their project was complete an open meeting was held in the village hall on 11 February 1992 and those present voted to establish The Long Bennington Local History Society primarily to study and develop interest in the history of Long Bennington and the surrounding area.
Still going strong, with a membership of about 50 the Society meets seven times a year for a wide variety of talks. Members pay a nominal annual subscription in January and there is a pay as you go alternative so anybody can attend any meeting and visitors are always welcome. More information about the society can be found on our website at lblhs.wordpress.com or on the village hall noticeboard.
